The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has recently announced a final rule detailing an adjustment in the filing fee for Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing, to account for inflation. The USCIS Stabilization Act, which initially set the premium processing fees, allows the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to revise these fees every two years. After maintaining the fees unchanged for three years, DHS is now implementing increases based on inflation data from June 2021 through June 2023, as per the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers.

Effective from February 26, 2024, the fee adjustments impact various premium processing categories. Specifically, fees will rise from $1,500 to $1,685, $1,750 to $1,965, and $2,500 to $2,805. The generated revenue from this fee increase will be allocated towards enhancing premium processing services, improving adjudication processes, addressing backlogs, and funding USCIS adjudication and naturalization services.

It’s crucial for applicants to be aware of the fee change, as any Form I-907 postmarked on or after February 26, 2024, with an incorrect filing fee will be rejected, and the filing fee will be returned. This applies to both regular mail and commercial courier services, with the postmark date determined by the courier receipt. For a comprehensive overview of the adjusted fees, applicants can refer to the USCIS documentation outlining the revised fee structure. Stay informed to ensure a smooth and accurate filing process amidst these changes.
